Friends

We thought it was about time we introduced you to our friend Jesse who lives next door to us.
She is a GSD/Lab X. She has become quite used to my unexpected visits into her garden; I do love to pop over the fence or hedge to see her occasionally and she just sits and watches me while I have a good sniff around her territory.

Now Jesse has a really good set of lungs! Her bark is phenomenal especially where the postman and paperboy are concerned. To see them ambling up the driveway to make a delivery and then charge back down at 100 mph is a real hoot. She is a big softy really, but this is confidential between you and me, nobody else must know otherwise her fearsome facade will be a thing of the past.

Here is Jesse in her garden. We often swap our favourite balls and enjoy a good natter over the garden fence. She is a lovely girl and she is a good friend to me.

The other evening I emailed
my black Lab friend Finlay and arranged to meet him at the local Lakes. We arrived a little early and sat patiently and waited for him to arrive. I admired the view and looked to see how many species of birds were swimming on the lake.
I spotted, Swans, Ducks, Canada Geese and Moorhens. I turned round to tell Taffy what I could see but he wasn't really interested. (Looking at this photo I have just realised how long my hair is, must make myself an appointment to be tidied up again).
After a short spell of being an amateur Ornithologist Finlay arrived.
He seemed to be having a spot of trouble with his lead but I helped to untangle him.
Then the hoomans announced before we started the walk we had to have a group photo! Groan.....we just wanted to get on with the walk for goodness sake.
As you can see we posed beautifully!!

Our hooman announced the camera was going to be put away after that and if we wanted to have nice pictures on our blog then we will have to learn to co operate in future!! Talk about stroppy!!!!

Cheerio for now

Cutting the grass.

Today the lawnmower came out from Winter hibernation and Taffy and I had to perform the Annual routine maintenance check.

Taffy seemed to assume the role of "walking foreman" while I did the donkey work

I listened carefully to his instructions.

After a while he became a little too bossy for my liking

So I just carried on what I wanted to do.. checking one wheel

and then the other.
The wheels passed the teeth test with flying colours
Ready for action.

So what does Taffy do?

Plonks his ball just where the lawnmower is going.
I mentioned that he would end up with stripes on his ball

But, no, the ball had to be left, so the lawn mowing was temporarily put on hold and I did a further spot check on the wheels.

Taffy then decided to play with his ball near to the pond.

The ball "accidentally on purpose" ended up in the pond!
So Taffy being an impatient chappie did not wait for our hooman to get it for him.

He dived in.
Retrieved it

Then proceeded to head straight for the electric lawnmower whilst shaking himself. Yikes!
Fortunately he was persuaded to settle down and relinquish his role of foreman
Then fell asleep.

I carried on supervising the mowing and I have to say I think I did quite a good job!

National Stuffie Appreciation Day 8th May 2008.

Mr. T-Bone Beasley has announced that today the 8th May is National Stuffie Appreciation Day.

Now we have quite a few of these loveable stuffies but sadly there are many who have gone to where the "Used and Abused Stuffies" end their days. Here are some of our current friends.

Some of the stuffies sleep all day in our beds and we just curl up with them at night. This chap was a gift to Molly from Santa Paws last year.

He seems to have burst his breeches............or was he the victim of a Terrier tug?

Heffalump on the left is Molly's favourite stuffie. Nothing must happen to him, it would be a disaster. However it would appear that Rudy the red reindeer wants to bite his nose!

The green duck is on bed rest awaiting minor brain surgery.

Cheeky Heffalump

Molly's cherries. They used to be joined together but fell out a while back and now lead separate lives.

Another of Molly's teddies. She has a very grubby nose and paws, not at all sure how she got those!!!!

Now I prefer ducks myself. I particularly like the ducks that give a good quack when you shake them. This duck had a predecessor that had an absolutely awful death even after major surgery. We are hoping this chap is more robust.

We are as you can see very keen on Reindeer. This brown one is huge and takes up half the bed. He often finds himself hurled out so I can make myself comfy at night.

Two more of my duckies. One squawks and one just squeaks

Molly and her Heffalump.

We have spent most of the day trying to get these photos onto the blog and are now exhausted, so we are going to curl up with our stuffies and go to sleep.
Night night,
Taffy

Crich walk

Sunday morning we were up bright and early and Taffy was keen to go for a walk. He waited patiently by the door.

Our destination was the Crich http://www.youandyesterday.co.uk/articles/Crich

We parked by Crich Stand.

The Memorial to the Sherwood Foresters Regiment

We went there as there are some really good walks and interesting things for the hoomans to look at, saves them getting bored when we take them out.

We walked around the memorial, had a good sniff on the grass (Bunny country here) and off we set.

As it was early the sun had not burnt away the morning mist so it was not possible to see the fine views. It certainly was not possible to see the 8 surrounding Counties which you can on a clear day.

After a mile we reached the track used by the Tramway Museum.
We were very fortunate that a tram came along so we could watch it for a short while.

We woofed at it as it disappeared off down the track but nobody waved back, we were very disappointed.

The Warden who looks after the grounds around the memorial seems to be big on signs!

Now our hoomans are responsible dog owners and clear up after us......

but NO FOULING......are we meant to walk around with a cork clenched between our buttocks?????
We just aren't too sure about that option.

We thought this sign was amusing as we passed by it.

However, our smiles turned to looks of dismay when we realised a cat litter box had been used as a drinking receptacle for us dogs!! Not only that the water looked really manky.

We gave it a miss and toddled back to the car for a drink from our own bowls.

Here we are waiting to be chauffeured home.

Once home we settled down to a spot of "Fine Dining" on the patio.

Followed by an afternoon nap.
