We have been spending a great deal of time recently observing the wildlife in our ponds. I pawsonally prefer to watch the pond activities from the side...
Taffy prefers the "paws on" approach!
Yesterday we counted 7 newts. This chappie is our favourite he is the biggest.
The tadpoles are starting to grow their little back legs.
Some have such long tails they are nearly as long as the newts.
As I was munching on my bone I had a feeling that I was being watched!
Well! I was right!
That great fat lump was not going to sit and watch me eat my bone. It was so big it looked as if it could swallow my bone sideways! I decided I needed to call for backup.
Guess what!!! He runs up the garden with a ball in his mouth!
How can you catch a pigeon with a ball in your mouth?
A silent approach was needed and I was going to surprise him.
Unfortunately he spotted me just as I was about to launch my attack.

Then I turned round and there was His Lordship laughing at me. Just because I had missed it!
After a few stern words from me he had the grace to look a little ashamed .
So the mission had failed...only one thing to do
Back to the bones......
