My special Birthday weekend by Taffy

Well! I can finally post about my special weekend. It has taken rather a long time organising the hooman to sort the photos and actually sit down and help me. OK, maybe I did dither a little with choosing some of the photos but having sorted through them I hope you enjoy my choices.

The weekend actually started on my birthday.

We travelled to WALES to the coastal town of Barmouth.

We arrived during the afternoon and found the B&B where we were going to stay for the weekend.

We actually stayed in one of these houses, it overlooked the beach.
We put all the luggage into our room and headed straight for the beach.

It was just brilliant. An empty beach, we had it all to ourselves. Miles and miles of it.
We had a paddle and a good run around. Molly had to stay on her lead as she was still getting over her limp and was on restricted exercise.

Dad hooman decided he wanted an ice cream, so we toddled along to a little shop with this sign.

I wasn't sure whether it meant Dragons like ice cream or whether they actually make it!

By the evening some of my friends had arrived and wished me Happy Birthday. We went to the beach and watched the sun go down. If only Stella had been with me too it would have been perfect.

The next morning we woke up to a bright, sunny, warm day. No need for coats or jumpers for the hoomans. In fact it was so warm Dad hooman had to buy a hat to wear. Not much hair left you see and he did not fancy boiling his brains while we were out walking.

Many more of my friends had arrived and were staying at other hotels. We had arranged to meet at Midday to go for a ramble.

Gradually the number of Welsh Terriers lining up along the promenade attracted a number of people to come and ask about us. Some people thought it was a mini Crufts event and some were very interested to know about us.

The usual meet and greet took place. A few snarls and lots of wagging tails.

I was delighted to see my friends Elvis and Molly. I had become friends with them when we went to stay at their house in June...(the Molly - chicken episode happened there).

More and more arrived and finally it was time for the ........

Group photo.

I have to say there was not a lot of cooperation amongst us.

With 20+ Welshies what do you expect?

Then it was time for the walk. We made our way to Barmouth Bridge to cross over the Mawddach Estuary.

A toll of 70p had to be paid by the hoomans but us dogs were allowed across without having to pay. Just as well really as I had left my wallet at home.

This is the view from halfway across.

When we reached the other end of the bridge we had a lovely walk through fields and a shady area. We passed a solitary sheep counting Welsh Terriers!

We stopped for a while by a wall so we could have a drink. The hoomans had dutifully carried bottles of water in their backpacks for us to drink. It turned out to be a hot day.

As we finished our circular walk we arrived back at the bridge and had a paddle before crossing over the bridge.

Now to get to the bridge there was a small stile. It was not dog friendly and we all had to be carried over. We were near the end of the ramblers and so we were more or less the last to go over the stile.

Molly was passed over the stile by hooman Dad to Evie and Nonnie's Dad. She was very good and then it was my turn............

NOBODY, I repeat NOBODY is going to grab me as I go over a stile.

Shall we say a lot of vocal followed...

Molly here: You can say that again, it was the noise! My little brother turned into a snarling woolly mass . Everybody was watching, I was sooooo embarrassed.

Fortunately hooman Mum grabbed him very quickly and peace was restored.
Thank you Molly for your input!!!!!!!!!
As I was saying........

We walked back to the harbour where some of our friends collapsed in a heap and went to sleep.

This is Lottie resting her head on her brother.

I wasn't tired. I wanted to make the most of the time we had at the seaside.

We went back to the beach and I chased my ball.

Splashed through the waves.

Molly kept a lookout to make sure no other dogs came along to steal my ball.

She did her job very well, just that she took it from me!

I wasn't going to put up with that! I chased her into the sea..........

and back out again ........

till I got it back.

In the evening there was a bit of a get together for the hoomans.
Lots of the funny water was flowing and towards the end of the gathering a
Welsh Terrier cake was cut up into slices, we didn't get any mind you!!!!!

We were so tired by the end of the day. We went to bed and had a good sleep and the next day we went on to the next stage of our journey, we travelled to the Lake District.
Be back soon to tell you all about it.
