Pre-rinse

Hello, it's me, Molly.

I don't want you to get the wrong idea about this post from the title above.

The rinse is nothing to do with my furs.

I am having enough trouble with my curls without adding a rinse to it!

What I am trying to do is train this lot....

I do all the chores around here. I had to put my paw down and told them they all had to help me from now on.

So first victim sibling up for training was Taffy.

I had to find a job for him that he could do well, bearing in mind he has short legs.
(Obviously chores like checking the bins would always be my task as Taffy could never reach them)

After a lot of thought I found him the right job at the right height.
A spot of intensive training followed by examinations.
Excellent student. Grade A*

 So I promoted him to:

Chief  Pre-rinser.

He wasn't too enthusiastic at first.
Getting out of bed proved to be a struggle
However, after a few days he got the hang of it
I could leave him to do his job without having to keep an eye on him.
Nice work Taffy.

Next challenge....

Find a job for Monty

I can feel a headache coming on, going for a lie down.

Coats and competition winners by Taffy

A few days ago I mentioned to Mum that my raincoat wasn't so waterproof as it had been.
Sometimes I felt rather chilly when walking through wind and rain.

(We seem to have had an awful lot of that recently.)

Anyway a parcel arrived for me this morning.
It contained....
The Ultimate 2-in 1.
I wasn't quite sure what that meant at first.
When I took it out of the packaging I realised a super duper coat had been ordered for me..
It is a waterproof coat with a detachable fleece lining.
Very easy to put on.
Just pop it over my head
The straps go under my front legs and do up over my back.
The strap has velcro fastenings and a reflective band to ensure I am safe on my walks.

I do like the way the collar pulls forward to keep my neck warm if there is a brisk wind.

I just want you to understand I am not a wuss and do not normally wear a jacket.
However, as a mature gentleman I sometimes like to have an added layer on top of my own furs.

Well I am certainly happy with the fit and it feels very comfy.
Not sure about the colour.
Can I have it in blue please?
Taffy

You may remember we posted a little competition last month.

Silly us forgot to post about the winning entries.

We ran the competition on our blog and also on our Airedale forum.

The winner on the forum was

We sent her an Airedale scarf which we hope will keep her nice and snug when winter arrives in Australia.
Tess seemed to like it a lot and made an excellent model.

Wonder if she will let her Mum wear it now?

The winning entry in Blogland was

Well done to the winners and thank you for entering our competition and helping us to celebrate our 500th blog post.

Welsh Terrier walk. ByTaffy

On Saturday Winnie and me went on a Welsh Terrier walk organised by Mum.

We invited our friends who lived nearby to join us.

The last of the Autumn leaves were just hanging on to the trees.
Duffy was the first to arrive with her staff. She was already there when we arrived.
She was very keen to get going.
Everybody arrived and we started the walk at midday.
I was busy counting everybody and must have blinked because they shot off.
Dad and Winnie set a steady pace through the woods.

We stopped when we found a dog-a-log so we could have a group photo.
Dexter, Pepper, Lucy Airedale, Bonnie
Moi!
Not sure where the others went to, they must have fallen off the log!

Halfway through the walk a bold Westie came trotting towards us with his owners.
He wasn't quite so bold when he saw how many of us were approaching him!
It really is heaven when there are so many trees on a walk.

Bonnie was full of beans pulling encouraging her staff to walk with a little more speed.

Can you spot the Welsh Terrier?
Near the end of the walk we came to what Pepper thought was a very interesting tree.

"Shall I climb it or hug it" said Pepper.

Bonnie to Dexter:
"I think she has had too much fresh air!"
Then we had more fun.
Dexter and Tilly had some toys and they shared them with us.
Pepper grabbed the tug toy
And wouldn't let go.
Dexter played with a squeaky toy while Pepper continued to hang on.
Lucy and Bonnie couldn't believe how tenacious she was.
After the games we were given treats.
A whole bag each!!

There were loads of different flavours.
Fish, cheese, chicken and beef. So yummy.
The staff had cake.
It had Welsh Terriers on it but we weren't allowed to eat them.

Just as well we had our bags of treats otherwise there would have been trouble.

These are the bags of treats we had. They are made by Poochs
Our friend Bonnie really loved them.

In fact she loved them so much she ordered loads of them on line.

She wrote a letter to our Mum to say how much she enjoyed them.

Dear Auntie xxxxxx

Thank you so much for my gorgeous packet of biscuits which you gave me last weekend. I didn't feel up to trying one on the day as I was so excited by all the toys squeaking, but when we got home I had one and it was delicious, so much so that I've told Mum that I'd rather have yours than the other ones she was buying for me!

Today Mum has gone onto the Poochs website and ordered several packets all in different flavours, and I cannot wait for them to be delivered. She has told me I shall have to have my own Biscuit Tin to keep them in!!

I had a lovely time last Saturday - when can we do it again?

Please give my love to Monty, Molly, Taffy and Winnie and tell them I hope to see them again soon.

Lots of love

Bonnie xx

We were delighted to receive Bonnie's letter and we do hope her pawrents ordered a good selection for her. We can't wait for Christmas when we will have the turkey and cranberry bones. Yum.

It's my 6th Gotcha Day. By Molly.

Yesterday afternoon I was dribbling on Mum's coffee table  looking out of the window and feeling very happy.

Mum, it's my special day tomorrow isn't it?

My 6th Gotcha Day.

Are we doing anything special?

Oh, I am having a surprise!
How wonderful.
I spent some time watching my feathered friends have their dinner.

One day I am going to get my paws on them say hello nicely.
It was a glorious afternoon.
The sun was shining, the birds were making a right old racket  singing
We had another lovely sunset.
What could possibly spoil this?

THIS!

Not the surprise I had expected!
I woke up this morning and thought the world had escaped.
It wasn't there!

I ran to Taffy.
Taffy, Taffy are you awake?
An eye opened....

Followed by a grumpy "What do you want?"

I told him it's my 6th Gotcha Day and the world had disappeared.
I just cannot tell you his reply.
It was along the lines, I was being hysterical.
The world had not run away and he wanted to continue his sleep.

He said it was just a very thick fog and it would lift later today.
(Since when has he been a budding meteorologist?)

We would all be able to celebrate my day without any problems.
There was nothing for it but to climb back into a bed and dream of the games we will play in the garden and the big bone I have been promised this afternoon.

I do hope the world comes back...

The purple poppy.
In remembrance of all the wonderful animals who gave their lives during a war.
