A brilliant weekend away.

Well here we are.............finally.
We had such a good weekend and took so many photos that it has taken us a while to sort through them all.

We left home on Friday, late afternoon, and travelled to Christchurch on the South coast and reached our hotel at 8pm.
We had a brisk walk before we snuggled down for the night.
The next morning after breakfast we toddled off to Mudeford Quay.
Now when we heard we were going to a place called Mudeford, we had visions of tons of mud. Fantastic!
How wrong could we have been.
It was in fact a very pretty and clean Quay with hundreds of Lobster pots.

It was very busy as the local sailing club were preparing for a weekend of events. We stayed well away from them as we did not fancy those huge pole thingies falling on top of us.

We watched the world go by for a short time

Checked out the upside down boats

Then it was time to go and meet our friend.
Deefor.

We exchanged pleasantries and then decided we would go for a walk in the New Forest.

Deefor had his staff drive him there and we followed in our car.

Thatched roof cottages and wild ponies are a common sight in the forest.

We arrived at our destination and I immediately saw wildlife I could chase..... sorry, I meant to say look at.
This pony didn't bat an eyelid when I barked at it.

This is a walk that our friend Deefor takes quite regularly so we let him guide us to where all the best smells were.
The walk was along an old disused railway track.
After an hour we reached the end of the track.

This used to be a railway station and when the railway track closed it was converted into a tearoom.

The hoomans had tea and cake and chatted a lot.
It was quite a trek back to the car but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Taffy was worn out.

When we reached our hotel he just couldn't keep his eyes open and his little head hit the blanket and that was him out for the count for 9 hours.

Next morning we had an early breakfast.

We were going to meet Deefor again.

We had a walk planned along a coastal footpath.

Eventually it took us to the beach.
We posed for a group photo.

Then it was fun time in the sea.
Deefor was first in...
Taffy was next.
I played with Deefor
Taffy joined in.
Not quite sure what happened to Deefor in this photo but he was definitely leaning over.

Taffy was his usual bossy self and started ordering Deefor around.
Along the beach were these pretty beach huts.
They were privately owned.
If you wanted to buy one it would cost you .....
£165,000.00p
GULP!
Deefor had a dig in the sand.

Taffy watched the waves.

I just relaxed and watched the world go by.

Rather than walk all the way back to the car we decided to take the little train.

The first train was very busy so we waved it off and waited patiently for the next one to arrive.

We clambered aboard and made ourselves comfy.
I told Taffy he had to keep his paws off the big red button, otherwise he would be in trouble.

The little train took us back to our car and then we had to come home.
We had a fantastic two days with our friend and we have promised we will go and see him again very soon.

Mummy cut my curls off!

I am no longer a curly girly but as we are going away for the weekend
I thought I had better have an Airecut and look smart as I am going to meet some of my Airedale pals.

Apparently there are some nice walks lined up for us over the weekend so as soon as I can get to the computer on Monday I will tell you all about it.

Have a good weekend.

True Colours Thursday. Green

Gosh doesn't Thursday come around quickly every week. Here we are again sorting out our colours.
Well this week is easy peasy.
GREEN

We love playing in the garden, surrounded by green trees and shrubs, running on the green grass.

Molly loves to climb trees covered in green leaves.

Wonder if she was looking for a Green Finch?

We can relax on the green carpet

Waiting for our tummies to be tickled.

Then of course there is green camouflage.

Just trying to "be green"

Wordless Wednesday sort of continued.............

Further to my earlier posting this morning about helping Taffy with his lines in Beagadoon, Petey kindly offered the following advice......

Petey: Molly, if it's any consultation, Taffy's character dies in the second act! Get him to practice acting dead!

I have tried..... Believe you me I have tried. It would appear that he can't even do this unless his jaws are open!!!!!!!!!

(I was only offering Taffy snippets of advice for his part in Beagadoon
As you can see he did not take it very well.)

New friends by Molly

We had recently made some new Internet friends and yesterday we had the opportunity to meet them.

I was particularly excited as they were Dale friends.

We had arranged to meet them at Cromford Canal, Derbyshire, a place where we do a lot of meeting and greeting!

It was a bright sunny day and the introductions went very smoothly. Taffy had been told to be on his best behaviour.

Me with my new Dale friends Barney and Storm

We were very good when we had our photos taken.
There was a good reason why this particular day had been chosen to meet up.

Every third Sunday of the month a group of ladies known as The Arkwright Spinsters meet at Cromford Mill and demonstrate their spinning skills and our hoomans wanted to meet them.

Chan Brown was hand spinning pet hair. When we met her she was spinning hair from a Samoyed.

Once she has spun the hair she makes teddy bears.
(Biggify the picture and you will see the bears)

There are now mutterings of having our coats saved and Chan being asked to knit teddy bears with it.
Taffy and I are rather concerned we may be plucked on a regular basis just for a teddy bear!

Now Barney and Storm's Mum has a spinning wheel and has been spinning their fur, how clever is that? She is going to design a pattern and knit little Dales from their fur. We think she is brilliant.
Our hooman cannot knit, well she can.... she creates wonderful holes. After many hours of clashing knitting needles together and grinding of teeth she has finally accepted defeat.

I do hope my new friends are not bald when I see them next time!

After we had watched the spinning and had a stroll along the canal the hoomans decided they needed coffee and cake.
While they munched and chatted we sat and admired the view around us.

Barney and Storm posed for photos.

Storm.
I think she could be my new best friend. We got on so well.

Barney
A handsome fellow, who had the pleasure of one of Taffy's inevitable Grrrr's.

We had a lovely afternoon, it was such a shame it had to end.
